  4. The enclosed files list books I have  read that I wish to share with kindred
  5. spirits. The list reflects my personal preferences and prejudices, which may
  6. not coincide with your   own.    Hopefully,  you will   find some things  of
  7. interest.  Note the newly added software listing (an experiment).

  9. The list has been divided into seven categories, by file name:
  10.          SF.LST           Science Fiction
  11.          SCIENCE.LST      Science, math, and related topics
  12.          ELECTR.LST       Electronics
  13.          COMPUTER.LST     Computers, programming, etc.
  14.          NONFICT.LST      Nonfiction, history, psychology, etc.
  15.          FICTION.LST      General fiction.
  16.          SOFTWARE.LST     Computer software.

  18. The WHATS.NEW file gives update info.
  19.  
  20. The files SDN.ID, SDN.CTL, DESC.SDI, VENDINFO.DIZ, and FILE_ID.DIZ are des-
  21. criptor files required for BBS, vendor, and network distribution.

  23. Many of the books on the list are out of  print and/or generally unavailable
  24. at the local  book store.  Some   of these can be found on library  shelves.
  25. Some can be ordered from rare book dealers [at a hefty premium, to be sure].
  26. Some can only  be found after years of patient search  at  used book stores,
  27. flea markets, and yard sales.  Some you may never find.  So it goes, as Kurt
  28. Vonnegut says.

  30. Some of the out-of-print books described are also out of copyright.    This
  31. would make them prime candidates for reproduction by electronic means, such
  32. CD ROM publication.  Any takers?

  34. I would be  interested in your comments, opinions, observations, criticisms,
  35. and general chatter. I regret that I can be of little or no help in locating
  36. any of the hard-to-get books [my personal copies are NOT available to lend].

  40. responded to my READING lists. His analyses and criticism are recorded,  with
  41. his permission, in the file OXLEY.ANS. My own response to his response  is in
  42. the file MCOOPER.ANS.    All you other people are herewith challenged to join 
  43. the discussion. If you dare.
